The problem with online shopping is finding the best places to shop and the best prices. So how do you get over this hurdle? This short article will give you some suggestions and the pros and cons of each option.

1. Using the search engines: This is everybody's first point of "contact" when searching online. It is not always the best. The reason being is you normally get hit with hundreds of links not all of them relevant. What normally happens is you end up spending many hours trolling through the searched results in the hope of finding the best places to buy. Then you can never be sure if you are getting the best prices.

2. Shopping Malls. To a similar extent this has the same pitfalls as point one. You have to troll the search engines to find a shopping mall that will even be close to what you want.

3. Ask your friends. Simple if you have plenty of friends who shop on the Internet.

4. Social networking sites. Yes there are plenty of shopping links on the popular social networking sites. But like search engines you have to troll through the postings to find what you are looking for.

5. Post your questions as to where to buy on forums and hope somebody posts back with an intelligent useable answer.

6. Read computer magazines. Well that is great if you are a geek and have a really big interest in computers. But many online shoppers are not that interested and just want to use their computer to get what they need and do it fast. Of course you could try your local library and do a quick flick through any computer magazines they have for lending - this will save you money.

7. The media. Well this is hit and miss. If you hear of a website on TV or Radio you will need to be able to write it down at the time. Believe me you will never commit it to memory our lives are to busy. Unless the name of the business is catchy you are unlikely to even remember that so you can search for it online

8. Use a nifty software tool that does the work for you. Sounds like a dream doesn't it. Well there are some tools out there that will give you where to shop and the best prices and all in your area. They install on your computer in less than 3 minutes ready to use.

My vote, #8. Using a tool that does all the search work for you when shopping online is not a dream it is a reality. In fact it is a shopping genie and you don't need to rub a bottle to get it.

Shopping online is meant to be easy not difficult. With so many businesses now offering goods and services online it can be difficult without the right tools. So don't get caught out spending to much time and money shopping online. Use the shopping method that suits you.
